Ep. 69: Breathing New Life - Exploring Transformational Breathwork with Teresa Trieb

In this episode, Nikki interviews Teresa Trieb about transformational breathwork, also known as conscious connective breathing or DMT breathwork.
Teresa Trieb is a somatic breath therapist from Munich, Germany. She helps others gain access to their subconscious mind, release trapped emotions and help rewire their brain through the power of transformational breathwork. Teresa is a student of life exploring the connection between breathwork, emotion, somatics and psychosomatics. Her personal success is that she overcame her own panic attacks, anxiety and depression through breathwork.

Nikki’s experience during and after her breathwork session
A lot of movement, happy to have been on the floor, full body numbness and tingles, T-Rex arms, euphoria when done, very calm. As the day went on felt very hot, similar to a high-intensity workout for feeling hot.
Some recommendations:
Put on lipgloss before.
Your tongue will be very dry when you start the conscious connecting breathing, but it goes away in a few minutes. Just lean into it and it will pass.
How the breath works - a 2-step active breath. Part one in your belly, part two chest, then exhale normally.
How often someone should do it, 1 to 2 times a month only
Who shouldn’t be using this breathwork due to safety concerns - Contraindications:
Anyone who is pregnant as it could trigger labour
Cardiovascular conditions (e.g. abnormal blood pressure, aneurysm, epilepsy or seizures, recent heart attack, ...)
Chronic respiratory conditions (e.g. severe asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis…)
Mental health conditions (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ...) DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY ARE NOT A CONTRAINDICATION!!!
Severe medications (e.g. opioids, strong painkillers, antipsychotics, ...)
Some modifications can be done if contraindications apply - must be discussed on a 1:1 basis with the practitioner
Some essential oils that could be incorporated into a session
